I've recently finished my first draft of the first book of a new mystery series, the Edgy Wood Mysteries. Beth, the landlady of the Psycho Cat and the Landlady Mystery series, has a friend, Edgy (a nickname) who lives in the country at the edge--you guessed it--at the edge of a wild wood. This woods is cut through with paths that lead to fishing, wading, and exploring at Walnut Creek.
Edgy is a divorced first-grade teacher and the mother of a pre-teen and a teenager. Besides doing the best she can to raise her kids alone, she's also dedicated to her class of students and to helping in her community. That's why, when murder occurs on Walnut Creek, she becomes the quintessential amateur sleuth (and meets a cute detective, to boot.)
Would you believe the mystery revolves around morel mushrooms?
